Aubrey Waldron

Aubrey is our General Manager here at NRG and one of our trainers. Crossfit Level 1 Certified, Hatha Yoga Certified and DONA Certified. Aubrey has always been very active whether its sports, biking, backpacking, or anything outdoors she loves a challenge. Aubrey discovered Crossfit on her journey to heal from an autoimmune disease that for considerable time consummed her body, damaging her endrocrine system and leaving her with no energy, unwanted pounds, and life long side effects. Determined to get back the active life she loved she sought out doctors she could trust and created a fitness program using the recommended intense interval training by her doctor. This soon turned into a grass roots Community Boot Camp for men and women in her area. She taught this program at parks, churches, and parking lots by dontation only for over a year, growing it from 1-30. Convinced to visit NRG by her brother she was hooked after her first wod, Fight Gone Bad. Thirsty for more she joined NRG and began crossfitting. Crossfit filled in all the gaps! She soon passed on the community boot camp to a bootcamper that shared her goal of making fitness available to anyone and began teaching the ladies only class at NRG. Aubrey is married with five children and resides in Eagle Moutain. She is also a coach of another kind and accompanies women and thier partners through out pregnancy, labor and birth as a DONA Birth Doula.

"Life is fun and full of obstacles, it's such a waste to not just go for it, whatever "it" is. Fear of failing? I've done that, and I'm sure I'll do it again and again. But I'm going to celebrate the times I succeed.

Favorite workouts : Karen, Fight Gone Bad and anything with a barbell.

Things that give me grief : No longer pull ups or double unders! So on to ring dips and handstand pushups!

SONDRA FAIR

Sondra Fair entered the pilates and fitness arena while establishing a formidable career in the world of professional ballet.  Sondra’s Ballet West career spans more than thirty years, as a Dancer, Ballet Mistress and Associate Artistic director.  Those years brought out Sondra’s talent to coach professionals so they could achieve their highest potential.  Sondra’s ability to guide them through intense training and provide advice on nutrition, injury prevention and mental discipline helped Ballet West reach national recognition.
Sondra utilized pilates as a method of body conditioning and strengthening.   Pilates became such an important aspect of her life that she made the decision to become a certified pilates instructor.  She was certified by the New York Pilates Guild under the direction and tutelage of Romana Kryzanowska, the celebrated protégé of Joseph Pilates.  Her decision to focus on personal training seemed the next logical step beyond her already established career as a ballet professional.
She has gone on to receive certification in TRX® Suspension Training® which utilizes suspended resistance exercises to build strength, balance, flexibility and core stability.  Recently she met the Russian Kettlebell Challenge by passing the rigorous hardcore certification process under the guidance of founder and chief instructor Pavel Tsatsouline
Sondra now operates her own Physiques in Motion studio in Salt Lake City and teaches kettlebells at CrossfitNRG.  Her clients represent all walks of life from professional dancer and Olympic athlete, to housewife and businessman.  She is constantly seeking improvement in her own technique, performance and teaching method.  She takes 2-3 kettlebell sessions a week with trainer and coach James Sjostrom, RKC level 2 instructor. Her travels take her to Chicago multiple times a year for pilates training and workshops with Romana’s Pilates™ master trainer Juanita Lopez.
Every client benefits from Sondra’s understanding of exercise physiology, her keen awareness of how to motivate people to achieve their personal best, and her depth of knowledge and experience as a Romana’s Pilates™ instructor, a TRX® instructor and an RKC level 1 instructor.
Combine Sondra’s experience and skill with your urgent desire for personal improvement and you will Succeed!

Cody Hidler

"Fitness and sports have always been a big passion of mine. I can remember being a little kid and doing push-ups and sit-ups on the living room floor while watching Saturday morning cartoons. Back then, the number one goal in my life was to play in the NBA, but it didn't take long to realize that I am short, white, and despite tons of practice, my ball skills were never impressive.

Soon after that realization I got into both rock climbing and aggressive inline skating (ramps, rails, and stuff like that). I skated a ton through high school and was good enought to get modest local sponsorship, but rock climbing is the sport that has stuck around for me. I have been climbing for about 15 years now and have guided climbing trips and taught classes for most of the past decade. In 2004-2007 my main job was coaching a competitive youth climbing team along with my wife Jordan. Our team consisted of climbers talented enough to take first place in national competitions and go on to compete in world cups in China and Ecuador, making us one of the top climbing teams in the country. I no longer coach climbing, but continue to train for the sport myself and work full time as operations manager for Rockreation climbing gym.

I stumbled onto Crossfit through the main site a few years back and have been hooked ever since. My first workout was Helen--I did it with a 16K kettlebell and it still took me around 14 minutes to complete even though I was pretty good at running and pull-ups already (my Helen time is currently 7:47 RX'd). I somehow self-motivated to follow the mainsite workouts on my own for a couple of years until joining at NRG back in June of 09. Since then all my lifts and benchmark workouts have improved dramatically. Since starting at NRG, nearly all my workout times have been cut in half (Filthy 50 in 18:26 down from about 45min, Fran in 2:57 down from about 8min, 29 rounds of Cindy up from about 18) and my recovery after workouts has improved drastically.

I received my Level 1 Crossfit trainer certification in July 2010 and have been coaching at NRG since then. Though I am no expert myself, I love helping people improve their movements--especially the olympic lifts, which are quite similar to climbing movement in some respects.

The community at NRG is second to none and I thank all of you for making it such a positive and motivating place to both coach and train at! I look forward to either yelling encouragement at you or sweating and panting alongside of you in a workout sometime soon."

Lynn Kilpatrick

Lynn Kilpatrick started doing Crossfit at NRG in April of 2009. She loved the Mom’s class so much, she started attending other workouts in June of that same year. She took to Crossfit easily because it combines two of her first sporting loves: gymnastics and weightlifting. She’s been lifting weights since high school, and doing yoga intermittently since college. After her son was born, she took up running to stay sane and lose that last five pounds. She looks forward to being the strongest, fleetest, most flexible old lady in the nursing home.

When she’s not hanging out at Crossfit or drinking coffee, she teaches English at Salt Lake Community College. Her extremely tall husband, Jason, can be seen in the gym during the non-basketball months of the year. She looks forward to the time that her son, Ross, starts Crossfit, but until then she makes him do burpees before bed.

Lynn earned her Level I Crossfit certification in November 2010 in Park City, but she is still too shy to add Chris Spealler as a friend on Facebook. Her biggest Crossfit crush is Matt Chan (love you, Matt! And your heart tattoo!), and she recently sent a friend request to Mikko Salo. She’s still waiting on that one.

She’s most proud of her Grace time (4:47!!) and her mile time (7:19!!). She believes in her heart of hearts (which is not her brain) that she will never have a good Fran time (9:57!!), but she’s content with her record of 49 double-unders. Despite her gymnastics background (which included regularly falling from the uneven parallel bars), the pull-up continues to be her nemesis (I’ll get you, pull-ups!). She would love to do a real handstand pushup. Some day. Her least favorite lift is the snatch. And her least favorite Girl is Fran. But she likes Annie. And Karen.

If she hasn’t made you do the Hollow Rock, you obviously haven’t been spending enough time with her. Fix that.
