Veterans Day

So I lost the blog,  the only thing more frustrating than this would be to pull up to maverick in the morning and them not have any coffe..   Oh the little things.

I was listening to a speaker last night, the talk had nothing to do with CrossFit NRG, but I thought it was very much related.  The message she was saying was about physical motor patterns and the brains ability to work.  She said studies have shown that the more you use your body the more your brain works.  If we get stuck in the rut, of bed, to chair, to car, 1 flight of stairs, to chair, to walk, to bed.  We aren't moving near as much as we could be.  However if we "Create Space" in our bodies than we are turning on switches in our brain.  More body equals more brain.  I have thought this before, through my own experience, but didn't want you to think I was crazy.  This lady was crazy though.  Mastering the Overhead Squat, Turkish Getup, Burpee, Snatch, Pullups,  will really help open your body.

Maybe this is a reference to CrossFit NRG

Just using my favorite exercises as examples. Tyler, she was way crazy!! Body as a generator, brain as a battery! Crazy!

Thank you Dave, James, and Jay and Happy Veterans day! Thank you for sharing the idea of the body as a generator, and brain as the battery. That is a great perspective. On another note, I find the Zone to be quite foreign. I just recently checked out a book that I thought would help me understand the blocks a little better, but found myself more lost. I am not sure if anyone is in the same boat. I normally being on the low GI diet FOR LIFE have portion sizes of one complete carb(mostly good carbs), one complete protein(palm size), and a salad. My fats are usually my snacks. I will eat a half of an avocado, or 1/4 c almonds(one serving size). I find the low GI diet the one that truly works for me. IF by chance someone can teach me the concept in JO shmo terms(a good teacher :)). It discourages me(and maybe i found the book the recipe book the worst reference to a beginner)to see that I need 1/3 of this to match up to 2/3 more of this for my 3 blocks. Please can anyone help because if I don't feel I understand it will discourage me to hop on the wagon!!! :)

Thanks :)

i know that in child development, the use of the arms and legs is an absolute requirement for brain growth. it's even used to help children that have developmental and emotional challenges to develop when they have issues and aren't making the crawling movements on their own. i kinda thought that i remember there was a window where this was really beneficial though...like maybe under 2-3 years old and a real challenge to reincorporate the benefit in ages from 4-6. i've never heard of this connection being essential in this way for adults....did she recommend the use of crystal skulls? LOL

Sammy- I was REALLY frustrated with the Zone diet to begin with and then as I started doing it everything got easier. I wouldn't mind sitting down with you and giving you a few ideas that helped me. Also, meeting with Rebecca (the nutritionist) really helped as well. She's here on Tuesday nights.
