Happy Monday

Announcing the Pre Thanksgiving Challenge.   Here are the rules.

Starting Monday Nov 16th.

Ending Wednesday Nov 25th.

Goal:  Eat in Perfect Blocks.  The correct number of Blocks for you! We are following the zone diet.  There will be no limitations except you have to measure your food into perfect blocks!

This is a 10 day challenge ending the Day before ThanksGiving.  Here is your 1 week notice.

Cost: Nothing

Reward: Everything

Congrats to Heber, Dave and Bryce for completing their endurance events this weekend pass.  All are healthy!

Today's Workout:

5 Rounds of

5 deadlifts 225/185

10 Burpees

Ashley and Susan define the one hand hand stand

Patrice Demonstrates the 20" box jump.  This is a great lesson in, always doing your best, keeping after it, and being consistent.  I know Patrice pretty well.  In fact I have known her most of my life.  Let me tell you when she started CrossFit, she was a non-jumper!  She couldn't jump over a string of floss. She could step, or skip, but couldn't jump. Heck, she had no intentions of ever being a jumper.  It was a year ago in her front yard that she was able to jump on the 12" box. (after 6 months of CrossFit, it only took her 20 minutes to build up the courage) Last Friday she did over 100 20" Box Jumps.  Congrats Patrice!!

I don't need a one week notice, I'll start today. I've been yo-yo eating for a week now and committed to myself last night that I was done with trying to pretend like I can eat whatever I want! Thanks for promoting that we continue the challenge by eating in blocks. However, I have to admit that I am almost completely block challenged. If anyone has zone recipes, please post them here or on Kat's recipe blog...in return I will post any recipes or ideas that I convert to The Zone.

Food preparation is always the challenge for me. Eating is easy! I am wondering if we can't get a group together and make several meals, then place them in a bag so that they are grab and go. Heck, if someone is willing to do this for me, I will pay them for their time.

Shauna- I have a bunch of recipes & snack ideas from Rebecca. I'll print them off & bring them tonight. I know Rebecca has also posted a few of her recipes on the website Kat put together.

Great idea Jag! I'm in if we want to get together & make a few meals.

jill, i will be forever indebted to you. sack lunches sound nice (and way nice than the stuff i ate out of cans the last time i tried be all ZONE), but i have a feeling i will be the one that has to make them at my house!! when i first read the zone stuff i thought what a nice plan for a guy with nothing but a can opener and no idea about what to make..little did i know i might be that "GUY". LOL

This is a good Monday workout after the weekend. What are blocks? I haven't had the joy of being introduced to this diet, can someone bring me up to speed? See everyone at the 5:30 class

Blocks are a way of measuring food. It breaks all food into Macro nutrients of protein, Carbs or Fats. The zone is based off of eating 30% protein, 30 % Fat and 30% Carbohydrates. a Block consists of 1 block, of each carbs, proteins and fats. 1 block of proteins is 7 grams, carbs are 9 grams and Fats are 1.5 grams. Will, I will give you a packet tonight and explain it more.
